Fashion trends come and go incredibly fast, which of course is what makes fashion so exciting. This summer, there are a whole heap of trends to try, some of which may even be sticking around longer than just the season.
If you want to hop on board with some of summer 2013’s hottest looks, here is all you need to know about:
- Printed jeans. In summer, many of us have a bit of a fashion dilemma on our hands. We love our jeans and wear them every day, but they can be too hot and not very summery. Luckily, we have the perfect compromise – printed jeans. At the moment, printed jeans are red-hot in celebrity land, with everyone from Rihanna and Alessandra Ambrosio to Rachel Bilson, Blake Lively and our very own Rochelle Wiseman from the Saturdays spotted wearing them in the last few months. There are so many fun, colorful and super-summery patterns and colors to choose from, you should be able to find a pair that suits your style and that gives you the perfect summer denim look. Top tip for wearing printed jeans – keep your top half simple and neutral in black, white or another solid, non-clashing color.
- Neon knitwear. Knitwear (i.e. jumpers and cardigans) might not sound very summer, but this season’s bright and bold neon knits could actually turn out to be the perfect picks. As we’ve seen so far, the British summer is not likely to be gloriously sunny every single day, unless we’re really lucky. A bright, lightweight jumper or cardy in sizzling hot pink, vivacious purple, lemon yellow or even acid green could be the perfect pop of colour in your summer wardrobe. Even if the weather seems to have forgotten that it’s summer, your wardrobe doesn’t have to!
- Fruit prints. It might sound unlikely, but fruit prints seem to be really taking off this summer. If you choose the right piece and don’t make too much of a ‘theme’ of your look with matching accessories, fruit prints can be fun, super cute and ideal for summer. If you’re going for a big, bold print, make sure it’s on a white background for a fresh, funky look. Otherwise, stick to smaller, fruit-inspired patterns, such as a white summer dress covered with cute strawberries.
- Denim shirts and dresses. This summer, anything that is made of denim but that isn’t jeans is set to be really popular. Light, fitted denim shirts are back in style, along with denim skirts and dresses. A great way to wear the denim dress is in a pinafore style, with a classic white tee underneath.
- The perfect parka. You might be thinking – what are women’s jackets doing in the hot list of summer trends? Well, every year, the parka becomes one of the must-have pieces of the season, for one very good reason – festivals. If you’re going to a festival, you can’t be seen in anything but a super-cool parka, lightweight enough to carry around when the sun comes out but hooded and waterproof enough to keep the rain off.
